Poverty Pitfalls


Many people don't get enough food or clean water.	Sponsored children eat nutritious meals and drink clean water at their Compassion centers.
Mosquito bites make many kids sick.	Many get bed nets to keep out mosquitoes.
Children ages 5 and younger are at a high risk of dying.	Compassion gives medicine, food and love to babies and moms in the Survival program.

Most storytelling is done by mouth - not in books.

Artists are known for a painting style called tingatinga. They usually make the art using hardboard and bicycle paint.

Tanzania's film industry is called Swahiliwood.

One of its volcanoes, Ol Doinyo Lengai, oozes lava that looks like oil.

The capital is Dodoma, but Dar es Salaam is the biggest, busiest city.
