MAKE A FLYING BIRD!
Did you know that birds don’t worry? Matthew 6:26 says God takes care of the birds — and he takes care of YOU too!
Let’s make a bird that can flap its wings like it’s flying through the sky. You might make a colorful bird like a quetzal from Guatemala, a hummingbird (which can fly backwards!) or a bird from your own imagination.
When you play with your bird, remember that, just like the birds, you don’t have to worry. God is taking care of you.
Let’s get ready to fly!

Make Paper Straws
Step 1
Take a sheet of paper and start rolling it around a pencil.
Step 2
Once the paper has gone around the pencil at least once, cut the rest of the paper off and set aside.
Step 3
Put some glue on the edge of the paper and finish rolling it around the pencil. Hold it tight until it has dried.
Step 4
Repeat with a pencil or marker that is bigger than the first pencil you used and the rest of the piece of paper. You’ll need one narrow straw and one wider straw

Grab your straws or make your paper straws.
Step 2
Trace the wing, body and beak shapes on the printable onto construction paper and cut them out.
Step 3
Fold the wings in half. Then fold each side down along the dotted lines.
Step 4
Decorate your bird with color and feathers. Use craft feathers or tear strips of construction paper to make your own. You can make it look like a real bird or use your imagination to create a brand-new bird. Tip: Don’t use too many feathers or your bird might be too heavy to fly!
Step 5
Glue the wings onto the bird’s body.
Step 6
Cut a slit in the smaller straw and glue it to the middle of the bird’s body.
Step 7
Cut off about one-third of the larger straw. Cut a slit about two inches on both sides of one end of the larger straw.
Step 8
Slide the larger straw over the smaller straw. Push it up till the cut end touches the bird’s wings.
Step 9
Tape the ends of the straw you cut onto each side of the wings, just above where they are folded.
Step 10
Hold the small straw and pull the large straw down. Watch your bird flap its wings!
