Tabletop Soccer Showdown
One of the best things about soccer is that it can be played almost anywhere — even on your table! Make your own mini soccer game using simple supplies from around your house. Then grab a friend and see who can score five goals first!
Supplies
- A shallow cardboard box, like a shoebox lid.
- 2 paper cups.
- 2 wooden skewers.
- 1 small, lightweight ball, like a ping pong ball or a ball made from scrunched-up paper.
- Markers.
- Pencil.
- Ruler.
- Scissors.
- Tape.
- Optional: green paint.
Step 1
Adult help needed. Cut off the ends of your cardboard box so it just has two sides.
Step 2
Use a ruler and pencil to draw a line across the middle, a circle in the center and small goal boxes at each end. When you’re happy with them, trace over your lines with marker. Optional: Paint your box green so it looks like a grassy soccer field! Wait for it to dry before doing the next step.
Step 3
Carefully poke a hole at the end of each side. The holes should be opposite each other so a skewer can slide straight through.
Step 4
Turn the paper cups upside down. Draw cute faces on them and decorate your cups in your favorite team’s colors or your favorite player’s number! Carefully poke a small hole through both sides of each cup, about halfway up.
Step 5
Slide a skewer through one side of the box, thread it through the cup and push it out the other side of the box. Repeat on the other end with the second cup. Now your cups should spin and slide!
Step 6
Slide a skewer through one side of the box, thread it through the cup and push it out the other side of the box. Repeat on the other end with the second cup. Now your cups should spin and slide!
