Sculpt a Masterpiece
Children around the world enjoy sculpting! Some moms in Compassion's program even sell art they sculpt. Here’s a recipe for play dough so you can make your own sculptures!

Supplies
- 2 c. flour
- 1 c. salt
- 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 2 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2 c. cold water
- food coloring of your choice

Directions
- Adult help needed. In a saucepan over medium heat, mix salt, oil, cream of tartar and water. Cook about 5 minutes, stirring constantly until the dough looks like mashed potatoes.
- When the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the pan and clump in the middle, remove it from the heat and let it sit until it’s cool enough to handle. If it’s still sticky, cook it a little longer before cooling.
- Once it’s cool, divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Add 6 to 8 drops of food coloring to each part and knead the dough to spread the color throughout.
- Store your homemade dough in an airtight container to keep it from drying out.
