Kindness Case Files

Operation Clean Water

Sisters Emma and Ellie Tant have cracked the case of how to help others! Their mission? To bring clean water to kids in need, one bracelet at a time.

Objective: Bring clean water to children and tell them about Jesus!

Mission: Start a bracelet-making business and donate the money they make.

Undercover Prep: Ellie and her family talked about how some people don’t have clean water. The sisters decided to start a bracelet-making business. They named their business River Bracelets because the Bible talks about rivers of life. They also named it after their dog!

Skills in Action: Emma and Ellie practiced what to say to customers. They sold bracelets at a community market. Their grandmother sold bracelets to her Bible study. A church coffee shop even started selling their bracelets.

Lessons Learned: Some people said mean things. The sisters had some slow market days and bad weather. But they learned to stay determined and keep going. “We think about the people who support us and how much money we’ve donated. It’s worth it,” says Emma.

Mission Goal: The sisters sell simple bracelets for $1 and more complicated bracelets for $5. They tell customers how the bracelets help people know God and give them access to water. “Our goal was $25,000. That’s a lot!” says Ellie.

Future Assignments: Emma and Ellie will continue selling their bracelets in a gift shop. “We are excited to earn more money. Selling at the coffee shop and the gift shop helped us grow,” says Emma.

FINAL WORD FROM THE AGENTS

Emma: “We think Compassion is a good place to start, but there are many options. You could collect diapers or donate to homeless shelters. If everyone does their part, we can make a big difference.”

Ellie: “Find something you love and make it something you can donate. It could be crocheting, drawing or baking. It could really be anything.”

Operation Multiplication

Nine-year-old Keysha looked around her house for something to give away. Her family didn’t have much. Keysha saw a bag of rice. She remembered the Bible story of Jesus feeding 5,000 people. Could she find a way to multiply rice?

Objective: Make sure Keysha’s neighbors had enough to eat. “I want to help others because my sponsor is so kind to me,” Keysha says.

Mission: Collect food to share with those in need.

Undercover Prep: Keysha invited her friends at the Compassion center to bring five handfuls of rice and any money they could spare. Keysha and her friends put the rice together to share with others.

Skills in Action: The first month, Keysha and her friends collected 165 pounds of rice and almost $40! They gave the packages to older people in their community.

“I felt so sad when I saw a grandmother we visited who lives alone. She is blind, very old and needs help from others. Now I feel joy. I know she will not be hungry because she has rice. I think normally people eat three times a day. This should be possible for all people, rich or poor,” says Keysha.

Lessons Learned: Keysha and her friends learned that when they each gave a little and worked together, no gift was too small. All their work made a difference!

Mission Outcome: Keysha and her friends were so successful that they inspired grown-ups to follow their example! Keysa’s tutor started her own group with parents from the Compassion center. Now the parents also collect money and share food with others in need.

FINAL WORD FROM THE AGENT

“I’m happy to know my friends want to help others. We can collect so much rice! The five handfuls of rice are like the five loaves of bread Jesus used to feed 5,000, and the money is like the two fish,” says Keysha.
